Dress Code

East Williams staff and students are expected to wear clothing appropriate for learning and playing.


  • Discretion is expected
  • Exposed undergarments are not acceptable
  • No revealing clothing (covering the torso front and back, no spaghetti straps for grade 3+, shorts covering the buttock, no bare midriffs showing)
  • Clothing must be free of inappropriate logos, slogans, phrases and pictures
  • Shoes should be appropriate for safe participation in all types of school activities, recessoutside play andgym class (non-marking soles)
  • Headwear (hats, hoodie, tuques, etc) and sunglasses are for outside only
  • Keep indoor shoes clean 

Compliance & Consequences

Students who come to school dressed inappropriately will be asked to remedy the situation. Students will be asked to cover/remove inappropriate attire andparents will be notified in order to seek support for the policy.  


At East Williams Memorial School, our Dress Code allows for the expression of individuality and personal choice while showing a high degree of self-respect, respect for others and respect for the learning environment. 

All students JK-8 are expected to comply with the Dress Code, as defined, on school grounds or while participation at school functions.
